2024 Honda CR-V vs 2024 Honda HR-V

When it comes to Honda’s SUV lineup, two models that are often in the spotlight are the Honda CR-V and the Honda HR-V. Both of these SUVs share some similarities, but they also have distinct differences in their features. If you’re undecided on which Honda SUV to purchase, this article is for you. We’ll take a closer look at the best features of the 2024 Honda CR-V and 2024 Honda HR-V to help you make an informed decision.

Engine and Capability Comparison

The first major difference between the 2024 CR-V and 2024 HR-V is their engines. The CR-V offers a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower, while the HR-V has a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower. The CR-V also gets a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 145 horsepower as an option.

Both the CR-V and the HR-V offer all-wheel-drive as an option. However, the CR-V gives you the option to get a Hybrid version which ensures fewer visits to the pump while the HR-V does not offer that option. The CR-V also boasts a towing capacity of up to 1,500 pounds. Honda does not recommend towing with the HR-V.

As for fuel economy, the 2024 Honda CR-V can get up to 36 highway MPG with a hybrid engine and 2WD drivetrain. Without the hybrid engine, the CR-V gets up to 34 highway MPG. Conversely, the 2024 HR-V will get up to 32 highway MPG. Despite its smaller body, the HR-V will typically get less fuel economy than the larger CR-V.

Interior and Technology Comparison

The 2024 Honda CR-V features a spacious and comfortable cabin with premium quality materials. It has plenty of legroom and headroom for both the front and rear passengers. The CR-V comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration. The 2024 Honda HR-V’s interior is smaller than the CR-V but still has a spacious feel. It has ample headroom and legroom. The HR-V also comes with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen system that also includes Bluetooth and smartphone integration. However, the CR-V’s interior is more advanced and comfortable than the HR-V.

The 2024 Honda CR-V is packed with advanced technology features. It has a wireless phone charger, proximity keyless entry, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and a hands-free power liftgate. The 2024 Honda HR-V has fewer technology features than the CR-V. It has a standard rearview camera, Bluetooth, and smartphone integration.

The 2024 Honda CR-V features comfortable and convenient features. It has a spacious cargo area, heated front and rear seats, and automatic climate control. The CR-V also has an optional panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The 2024 Honda HR-V features comfortable seating and a practical interior. It has 60/40 split-folding rear seats and a spacious cargo area. The HR-V also has heated front seats, leather upholstery, and an optional 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Exterior and Design Comparison

The first noticeable difference between the two models is their size and shape. The CR-V is larger with a more boxy shape, while the HR-V is smaller with a sleeker, sportier look. The HR-V also has a sloping roofline, which gives it a coupe-like appearance. Both models have a stylish front end, with the CR-V featuring a bold chrome grille and the HR-V having a sporty black honeycomb grille.

Another difference in exterior features is the wheel size and design. The CR-V comes with larger wheels ranging from 17 inches to 19 inches, while the HR-V’s wheels are smaller and range from 16 inches to 18 inches. The CR-V models also have more design options, with some featuring a two-tone finish and some having a blacked-out design.

Both models feature LED headlights, but the CR-V has a more advanced lighting system with automatic high beams and auto on/off headlights. The HR-V has a more unique lighting design, with LED daytime running lights that wrap around the front of the car to the side.

Both models have a variety of exterior color options to choose from, with the CR-V having a few more options. In terms of trims, the CR-V has 6 total trim levels to choose from including 3 hybrid trims. This compares to just three trim levels on the HR-V.

Safety and Security Comparison

The Honda CR-V and HR-V both have high crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). However, the CR-V received a higher overall rating of 5 stars, while the HR-V received 4 stars. The CR-V also scored higher in frontal and side crash tests and has more advanced safety features such as collision mitigation braking and lane departure warning.

Both Honda SUVs come equipped with front, side, and curtain airbags, which offer adequate protection in the event of a crash. However, the CR-V has an additional driver knee airbag, which provides extra protection in case of a frontal crash. The CR-V also comes with a passenger sensing system that can detect if the seat is unoccupied or occupied by a small child, and the airbag will be deactivated accordingly.

Both SUVs come with anti-theft security systems, which include an engine immobilizer and an alarm. However, the CR-V also comes standard with a remote engine starter, while the HR-V only offers it as an optional feature. The CR-V also has a multi-angle rearview camera that provides a clear view of any objects behind the vehicle, making it easier to park and reverse.

Both Honda SUVs come with LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) for securing child safety seats. However, the CR-V has better child safety features, such as rear door child safety locks, rear seatbelt reminders, and rear-seat curtain airbags. Additionally, the CR-V has a system that detects if a child or pet has been left in the car and sends an alert to the driver’s phone.

Pricing Comparison

The 2024 Honda CR-V has an impressive starting price of $29,500 making it an affordable option for new SUV shoppers. However, with its luxurious features and upgrades, the price can go up to $39,850 for the top trim level and exclusive packages. But, if you’re looking for a hybrid option, the CR-V starts at $33,700.

The 2024 Honda HR-V has a lower starting price compared to the CR-V at $24,100. Even with optional upgrades included, the top trim is still well below the CR-V’s highest price point at $27,650. However, Honda does not offer a hybrid option for the HR-V model. No matter which SUV you choose, you’ll be getting one of the most popular SUVs on the market.
